May Flowers

Here's to pollinators everywhere.
When I was growing up during this time of year, almost without exception, I would get stung by a honeybee. There are many species of bees, but the ones around here are the the once common European honeybee. I am not deathly allergic to them, but I would sell up like a watermelon. Yellowjackets, wasps, any other stinging bug, I could withstand pretty easily. Not the honeybee sting.
I'll tell you though, I am seeing honeybees less and less. Thankfully, other insects have taken up passing the pollen around, like the bumblebee in this photograph. Whatever the reason for their decimation, we should do all we can to protect the honeybee. Our lives depend on them.
